Village of Mamaroneck Meets Success with Food Scrap Pick-Up

VillageMamaroneck_Logo

The Village of Mamaroneck’s food scrap pilot pick-up program was determined to be a success, and in June 2022 was seamlessly rolled out into a free pick-up service. On Wednesdays, the weekly Village recycling day, residents can put out their food scrap bin for pick-up along with their paper/cardboard and plastic/glass recyclables.  The Village now has over 300 households participating in the weekly food scrap pick-up program.    Since the pick-up program was initiated in March 2022, the Village’s tonnage has increased 10% year over year.  Since the inception of the food scraps program, the Village has diverted 190 tons of food scraps from incineration which is a huge achievement.

Residents of Village of Mamaroneck can register on a rolling basis; however, you must be on the approved list for 7 days prior to your first pick-up. Visit this link for more information. Call 914-777-7745 to register.
