Responsibilities

The Supervisor is the Town’s chief executive officer. As Chair of the Board she presides over all Town Board meetings which are open to the public. The Supervisor and Council Members propose legislation and make policy decisions that directly affect residents. Mindful of both long-term goals and short-term objectives, the Supervisor responds to the needs of the community and represents the Town in its dealings with County, State and Federal Agencies.

About Jaine Elkind Eney

Jaine Elkind Eney is the Supervisor of the Town of Mamaroneck and was elected to that office in November 2021. Prior to becoming Supervisor, Jaine served on the Town Board as a Councilwoman from January 2012 through December 2021, also serving as Deputy Supervisor for five years from January 2017 through December 2021.

As a Councilwoman Jaine has served as Town Board Liaison to all four Land Use Boards (Planning, Zoning, Coastal Zone Management, Architectural Review), as well as the Housing Authority, Board of Assessment Review, the Larchmont/Mamaroneck Library and the Human Rights Committee.  As liaison to the Recreation Commission, Jaine spearheaded the project to renovate the Hommocks Park Ice Rink and the project to renovate the Ice Rink locker rooms which include much needed changing rooms for female players and indoor space for summer camp activities.

Currently, Jaine remains the liaison to the Fire Department and liaison from the Town to the Chamber of Commerce. Jaine has also worked on many special projects for the Town, among them, serving on the Search Committee to replace the Town’s retired Town Administrator, on the Steering Committee for our Comprehensive Plan which will provide a blueprint of the community’s vision for the future of Mamaroneck, and on a Town communication committee that resulted in the monthly Supervisor e-newsletters and semi-annual mailed newsletters so that the Town could better communicate with our residents.

Jaine currently serves as a Trustee on the Board of Westchester Joint Waterworks and she is currently a Commissioner of the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Joint Garbage Disposal Commission. Jaine also serves on the Executive Committee of United Westchester, a committee of municipal, county and state elected officials formed to examine and report on the failures of the County's electric utilities and telecommunications companies in response to storms, and to provide recommendations to prevent these failures in the future.  She is co-chair of the Con Ed sub-committee.   In this role, she recently testified on behalf of the Town before the State Public Service Commission.

Prior to joining the Town Board, Jaine was the Deputy Mayor/Trustee of the Village of Larchmont

Before becoming an elected official, Jaine served the Town of Mamaroneck as a Member of the Town’s Board of Assessment review for 17 years, serving as Chair for 14 of those years.

Jaine has resided in the Town of Mamaroneck since 1979. She raised her son and daughter here, both of them graduates of the Mamaroneck Public School System. She earned a J.D., cum laude, from Fordham University School of Law and a B.A. from Wellesley College with the distinction, Wellesley Scholar. Jaine maintains a local law practice, concentrating in residential and commercial real property transactions.
